Alltel's prepaid is pretty good, 15 cents every minute, no other charge (Like with verizon's prepaided they charge 99 cents every day you use it). They do not offer free internet or discounted nights and weekends though. Also no contract, but you do have to make a phone call every 30 days (Most likely not a problem ).

Tmobile has a prepaid sidekick plan that charges $1 per day. Calls are billed at 15 cents a minute. The daily fee includes unlimited true internet browsing and unlimited text messaging. I assume chun doesn't like Tmobile because their coverage is not as expansive as others. You can check detailed street level coverage on their website so if it has coverage where you need it you are good to go.
