Hi,
Obviously I am pretty new to smart phones. I'd like to get a Moto G and then use a pre-paid service. Our area is served by Verizon and Sprint networks so I am wondering can I just buy a SIM card and air/call-time from one of the carriers?
I know Verizon have the Moto G on their website for $99 but it has no way of installing a SIM card as it is locked to Verizon. That makes no sense to me anyway, to spend 100-bucks and be trapped to one company for that phone. Buying the real Moto G for 200-bucks makes more sense to me if we ever move and can then swap carriers to get a better deal by buying another SIM.
I have a friend in Australia who told me about buying SIMs over there, and that's how she uses here phone. I have done some online searches but can't really find anything like that for the US. Probably using the wrong search terms.
Any help with this?
Thanks

Re: Buy pre-paid SIM card for unlocked phone?
From what I understand you can't use the "real" Moto G on Verizon and Sprint since it's GSM only and they don't give out SIMs for non 4g LTE phones. You'll have to go with another prepaid provider, like Mobile Hotspots or NET10 Wireless (both are basically the same). You could also go with T-mobile or AT&T prepaid as long as you have coverage in your area (I know you said your area is serviced by Verizon/Sprint, but there has to be some GSM coverage, right?). You can order sim cards right from their sites. The Moto G uses a micro sim.
