OK, after 4 months now since the Suncom to Cingular switch I have decided
either
A) Cingular Sucks!
B) The 4 Moto V180's they switched out my old phones for SUCK!
C) All of the above
I have never in my life suffered the number of dropped calls, failed calls
and callers sounding like Darth Vader as I have since switching to Cingular.
I am convinced at least B is true as I am about to replace my 3rd V180 under
warranty for the same problem (display goes black).
Any once else in the area care to comment.

They call it the "Darth Vader" option. It is a highly coveted feature!! :-)

Re: Cingular Virginia Beach
The V180 is a terrible phone. Cingular has tested them many times and
they have always had MANY problems. Call up Customer Care or
XBM(Exchange By Mail) and tell them you read oh forums.cingular.com
that many many people are having problems with the phone, and that you
would like it replaced by something that's known to work well. The
3120 is a decent phone, or if you hold out a bit longer the Samsung
X497 will be out. It might take a bit of time on the phone with CARE
but if you either get the right rep, or ask to speak to a manager you
can probably get it without to many problems. Good luck, try to get
rid of that POS phone.

Re: Cingular Virginia Beach
Yes the v180 is a problem phone primarily with the microphone and the screen
going black or bleeding. Protocol requires the xbm trade same for same 3
times before they will upgrade you. Even the Mgrs are under this rule. They
do know it is a issue ;even the De LeVega realizes that XBM is a joke and is
supposed to be changing the exchange process. Cingular is so cash starved
however I really do not think the change will be anytime soon.

Cingular isn't "cash starved." For 2Q FY2005:
* Total revenue up 4.6% over prior quarter
* Profit of $147m for 2Q FY2005
* Monthly churn of 2.2% - down for the 3rd consecutive quarter.
* Added 1.1m net subscribers.
* Almost all of the 4.4m new subscribers were postpaid.
* 7% of subscriber base switched from TDMA to GSM in the quarter.
* GSM carried 9 out of every 10 minutes of calls on the combined network.
* ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) up 1.7% over prior quarter to $50.75.
* Data ARPU continues strong growth.
* OIBDA Margin improved over prior quarter.
* Integration on schedule.
