I have a razor, that is unlocked unbranded and works fine except for
the Media Net .I have mirrored Cingulars settings according to whats on
there web site and also what was later verified by supposedly tier two
    support. Still get error 502.

The support person said its because of the none branding and that I need
to have there version of the firmware on the phone. Myself and another
guy were leaning towards it mite be because of the IMEI number not being
one of theres BUT I gave them the number, and another thought was a java
certificate for maybe authentication on to there network.

I find this very hard too believe, has anyone else got this working on
preferably the same phone I have?

    thanks
    Michael

Do you just need a browser? Is that why you want to use MediaNet? I flashed my
Cingular Razr with a stock moto version and duplicated your issues. I found I
could connect using their settings but the page display was all screwed up. I
pointed the phone to mini.opera.com and downloaded and installed their browser.
It ROCKS. Now, eventually I did go back to a Cingular branded flash as the
stock moto did not allow me to do certain SEEM edits for some unknown reason.
But I still use Opera--it is really terrific.

Not true. Something in your settings is wrong, or your account isn't
    provisioned properly.

Have them take the MediaNet off, and then put it back on again, Power the phone off and then back on again and give that a try

Read the Cingular support forums. Many people are having problems with
MediaNet with unbranded and properly configured RAZR phones, and verified
    account is provisioning.

The problem is that the Cingular firmware places 2 WAP security certificates
in the phone's file system that are necessary for the home page to work
correctly. Unbranded phones that lack these certificates may have it fail
to load, fail to load graphics, or load an alternate version of the
MediaNet home page that lacks many of the important links.

The only guaranteed solution is to flash the phone with Cingular-branded
    firmware.

    Again, I suspect incorrect settings.

All that I've needed was to log in once after having set it up with a computer
on the Web. Regardless, there's nothing essential on the Cingular WAP server
-- useful services can easily be accessed directly. See the FAQ below for
some of the more useful WAP resources..

No offense intended, but I seriously doubt that, because there are too many
old phones still in use, and because I've had a great deal of success using
unbranded and unlocked GSM phones (e.g., Sony Ericsson Z600) on Cingular
    MEdia.

I don't doubt your experience. The difference in behavior may depend on
the firmware of the phone itself, and how that brand handles secure web
pages for which it does not have a resident certificate of authority.

Just for fun, I loaded the Cingular WAP settings into an old unbranded
Nokia 6590i today. Upon trying to load the home page, the phone issues
an error: "Unknown Authority" - and asks if I will accept the certificate.
If I accept, the MediaNet home page eventually loads, but the temporary
certificate is not stored, and the same error is generated next time.

It's possible something has changed, but why bother with MEdia Net home page
at all? You should be able to access whatever you want, other than Cingular
email, directly. For email I use and recommend free Google Mail (Gmail),
which has a slick WAP interface, and can also be accessed directly with the
    email clients in many phones.
