Ho do I move my applications, games etc to a larger 64mb mmc that I have
bought. I have purchased games and applications from Nokia and other
companies and I dont want to lose the keycodes etc when I move them. (ie I
dont want to have to buy them again). Many thanks

Just copy the entire MMC to your hard drive and then onto the new card.

Re: 6600 Nokia32mb MMC
I actually had trouble doing that with mine .. (tho it may well be because
of my crapy reader) .. i could copy the images, ringtones and all that from
it .. but everything in the hidden system folder, it wouldnt touch .. Would
pause on the files, then say it was un-accessible. Then I'd find the MMC
card had been "ejected" as far as windows could tell.. I'd have to remove
then re-insert the card, and itd come back ..
I did find however, most apps, (well, all the ones i had registered) store
the reg details on the PHONE, not the card, regardless of where they are
installed to.. I re-installed the apps I used onto the phone again, and they
were automatically registered still, even on the new card ..

Re: 6600 Nokia32mb MMC
You have to back up only the MMC put the new card in end then restore (you
may need to format the MMC first)

I'm not sure I understand. I have to back up on to my mmc which I do as
normal but how do I then restore that to the new mmc?

So do you suggest then that I do not re-format the phone. As if I copy my
old mmc to my hard drive and then copy it to the new mmc card and reformat
my phone, wont I loose all the keycodes, registrations etc.

Re: 6600 Nokia32mb MMC
I didnt format the phone, I changed the MMC card. If your only changing MMC
card, you dont need to format the phone.
I just re-installed all my apps (I only kept apps on the MMC card, not in
phone memory), and they were all reg'd still.
do *NOT* format your phone, if you wish to keep the keys.

Re: 6600 Nokia32mb MMC
Who ever mentioned formatting the phone? do *NOT* format the phone if you
intend to keep your details ..
Your phone stores, in most setups, your address book, configuration
details/preferences, and reg keys for your apps.
Your MMC Card stores the apps themselves and your data, such as pics, etc...
you can of course change this, and store some things in phone memory instead
of MMC card, but mostly, this is how it is.
If you change your MMC card, all you loose is your user data (photos,
ringtones maybe, etc) and your apps .. you keep your adress book, settings
and keys, because they are in the phone. If you format the phone, and change
the MMC card, you loose EVERYTHING.
do NOT format the phone.

OK, thanks for that. I had thought of re-formatting the phone so that any
trial programmes or stuff that I had installed and then not liked and
removed and any stray registry details etc were removed totally out of the
phone. But I'll do as you say and leave the phone as is and just do the mmc
card. One other thing, I have installed a few things on the phone that I
think would now be better on the mmc card, ie photograph, album etc. How
would I install them to the mmc card and keep the keycodes etc. Many thanks
