    I'd like to see
1-full keyboard on a clamshell that pulls out under the keypad
    2-am/fm radio
3-blue tooth and easy transfer of all data to and from computer
4-integrated addresses with the phone numbers
    5-GPS with maps
6-infrared for TV remote control, garage door opener
    7-MP3's
8-more memory. Like the new Toshiba 4 gig hard drives the size of a quarter

all of these are coming however I'd really like to see is:
    9-stun gun attachment.

I'd like a stun gun attachment to my phone. Think about it. You take
the phone everywhere and now with the phone having calendars and
applications and games, why not? I take my phone around with a belt clip.
It'd be nice to be able to use it as self defense. Sure there would be
issues with airports and such which is why you would have an attachmentment
    so you could remove it.

    TIP:
I used to get lost when parking my car at the mall. Now I just take a
picture of where I'm at and use the voice memo to record info. Youcan do
that at them parks or even as a locater map of where you have been (say
hiking). I know some GPS have Automap that maps where you have been.

Not sure why, but the wife thinks that there should be a button that'll set
the vibrate mode on ---- and leave it on until she turns it off. Says she'd
have one less thing to carry on her business trips. As it is now she makes
me call her, but then wont answer the phone. Women --- who can figure them.

And here's my tip --- smoke less pot --- it makes finding the car easier.

    1) A cellphone where you don't have to ask people to repeat
    what they said.

    2) A cellphone that doesn't drop calls so much.

    3) A cellphone .. oh, nevermind. You get the point.

You do realize how heavy this unit would be, don't you? The phone itself
would be twice as heavy, and I don't even want to think how heavy the
    battery would be ...

MP3's. SPCS already did that with their Uproar phone and it didn't sell that
    well.

That's a decent idea for those who have short memory spans or going out to
    party hardy ...

Re: What new features do you want in a phone?

We went to Universal Studios the other day. Each area in the parking lot is
labeled jaws or et or whatever. I tested this out even though I know my way
around (I used to direct TV shows for a national cable network there before
they went under). I took pictures every so often. On the way back I gave
the phone to my nephew and told him to find the car. I used the voice memo
for row and isle. He found it pretty easily.

I wonder what other uses people have thought up to help them out besides
taking pictures at strip joints(been there. done that).

    Now you're talking.

It wasn't long ago that the thought of what we have now was science
fiction. I would also like to see the cases have photo cells to charge up
the battery all day long(prototypes exist) and a front projection to beam
the video image onto a table and you type on the table instead of the keypad
(prototype exists) and have the local newspaper be downloaded onto the phone
    all day long.

You know what, Phil? I think you may have finally shed your title as most
clueless poster here. In fact, your knowledge of the phones themselves is
very good. Too bad you can't stick to that and delve into the areas where
    you don't have a clue.

No- with all of the crap the Supreme Moron is trying to cram into it- you'd
need a wheelbarrow to carry it around.

Oh yeah, and no more pounds. Remember when car phones were bricks?
Advances in fuel cells and solar technology might allow batteries to encases
    on the case.

That's it! That's the thing! This is what I always want to say
    in response to this question.

I want a cellular phone that does what a landline
    does...PERIOD!

That is to say, completes calls from anywhere, to anywhere,
and transmits a clear, strong, noise-free, well defined signal that
sustains from the beginning to the end of the call.

IMO THEN, and ONLY THEN, after the technology has achieved
that, should cellular companies begin ladling on extraneous doodads.
The truth is that all of the extra functions - handy though they may
be at certain times for some people - are merely distractions from the
fact that calling on a cell phone is to calling on a landline as
navigating with a small, loose rudder in choppy water is to driving
with brand new radials on a straight, newly finished highway in good
    weather.

Obviously, cell phone companies are trying to achieve the
ideal, but in the meantime they've got to keep acquiring customers to
stay in business, and that requires selling toys.

Yes...and remember when they "portables" were a 20# briefcase and
mobiles were the size of a small suitcase.
