Hi
I am thinking of buying a Metro PCS phone for my daughter in the SF Bay
Area, CA.
Can anyone pls share their experiences with this service ? especially
in the SF Bay Area, CA.
Probably
85% local calls
15% out of state calls
Any particular phone to purchase with this service ?
Does this service cover canada ?
Thanks
Anna

Be aware that MetroPCS uses a subset of Sprint's towers in the Bay Area.
There is no roaming onto other CDMA systems, or onto AMPS. So be sure
that there is coverage in all the places where your daughter will be
using the phone.
For $40/month T-Mobile gives you 1500 minutes per month, or 600 minutes
with unlimited nights and weekends. While T-Mobile isn't the greatest
network, at least it works in a lot more places than MetroPCS. For
example, MetroPCS doesn't even cover Santa Cruz.

Re: Metro PCS question
Several friends have metro PCS. Not the best coverage but lots of calls
for the money. Works much better than I would have expected. They are
always calling me and there are not too many holes. Sometimes a weak
signal but not that bad at all. I wouldn't think of roaming outside the
Metro areas on it, but a good choice for the Bay Area, if it works at
home and where you work and travel around town.
