That does suck. There are two ways of looking at it. If you make a call at 5:59 pm and talk for 10 minutes you will be charge for 10 minutes. But if you make or receive a call at 6:59 am and talk for an hour, you will NOT be charged a penny!! It's an odd way of looking at it but eh... $h!t happens.

They charged you for a call you made. Had you bothered to check in to the policy they would have informed you of it. Because you were not aware of a policy does not make them "bastards"
For future reference,
You are billed for a call from where and when you start the call.
For example, if you are in Vancouver and you call a Vancouver number at 6am and then get in your car and drive to Halifax, and continue talking the whole way, there will be NO long distance charges and NO airtime charges, even though you are 3000 km apart and you talk for 120 hours straight, because when you began the call it was local and during you unlimited period.

They have a very fair policy, and they stick to it. Where is the problem?
That policy can just as easily work in your favour as against it. (as seen in my example above)

i have a question regarding rogers' billing methods, hopefully some of u guys can help me
i just got my bill and i was charged data transfer usage but all i did was hit the internet button on my phone and went to that screen where it asks u if u want to proceed at 5 cents /kb
my question is, did i get charged just for going on that screen? i know its just a measly 5 cents but i'd just like to know if thats where the charge came from
thanks

xj0nj0nx : Yes, it was for the transfert of the page (billed 5¢ per kb, rounded up to the highest kb.)
Davionjames: I know Bell and rogers bills like that (worked for both) not sure how others work. Well, I know you would not be able to do it with Fido cause you cannot keep a conversation more than 5 minutes on the road with their coverage =-x
(unless U pay that 5$ extra to have Roger's coverage therfore paying 5$ extra to get a coverage you would get from rogers for 5$ less with a cooler phone and better service IMO)

I have a plan where I get 3cents a min per KB and 250KB free a mnth for 3$ which in my first mnth of service saved me a bunch.
I a;sp think they are fair today they gave me two mnts free cuz the phone I got from them directly is 50$ cheaper at radio shack.

It seems reasonable to me. Whatever happened to 6 second billing?
- 09-25-2005, 03:06 PM #12
actually you got charged 5 centa a kb for every kb on that page . if the page was 5 kb you got charged 5kb x 5 cents = .25 cents to look at that page. stay off rogers internet on the phone read all the posts.

well if your phone is free after 6 then really you should make your call after, everyone on this thread is right, rogers will bill you from when you make the call. The $25 reactivation fee is charged when you are suspended.

that is the same for all carriers. rogers did nothing dishonest here.T-Mobile Trainer
