I'm now using a G1 TMobile on the Rogers network in Canada and don't get 3G speeds. The same was true with a Verizon Blackberry Storm on Rogers. Is there any technical reason for not getting 3G on a 3G network or is Rogers just being ***holes...??

Re: 3g on an unlocked phone
They are not being a-holes. Here's the reason they do not work on Rogers' 3G. Rogers uses the 850MHz and 1900MHz bands for 2G/EDGE and 3G. Both devices (the T-Mobile G1 and the VZW Storm) use different bands for 3G: 1) because they were designed for carriers that use different bands for 3G or 2) because they were designed to be used elsewhere.
With the T-Mobile G1, it uses the 1700MHz/2100MHz bands for 3G (HSDPA) and the Storm use the 2100Mhz bands for 3G (HSDPA).
