Problem with Samsung a670 and Bitpim

Ive got a problem with bitpim

My OS: XP Media Center 2005
Phone: a670
Bitpim version 0.8.06

i just got a data cable and all the right drivers for my a670
The cable and driver cd from ebay:

I transfered 1 pic to my phone sucessfully. I restarted my phone and the pic was on it

After that, every time i tried to connect to the phone i got this error message:

12:34:50.421 COM3: Open of comm port failed
12:34:50.421 Error: Failed to open communications - COM3
COM3: could not open port: (32, 'CreateFile', 'The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.')

I have restarted my computer and my phone mulitple times but with no luck.


I have tried GAGIN and QPST but they do not work either

What should I do?

Did you for some reason plug the cable to another usb socket different from the one you installed the cable driver? Doing that will cause the computer to assign another COM port to the cable. Check to see if COM3 is the port assigned to the cable?

I tried it with every COM port

Also, I tried reinstalling the drivers and software

After playing with the software for hours, I got it to work.

I think this will get it to work, but im not sure.

If you plug the phone in, open Bitpim, and then turn the phone on, it works
