W755 earphone starts speeddial

The first W755 I had would dial speed dial #5 when I plugged in my earphones, Verizon replaced it, but the replacement does the same thing with #2. Any one else have this problem or am I extremely unlucky? I assume any 2.5mm stereo plug should not cause the phone to dial.

Be sure you are using a 4-pole 2.5 to 3.5mm adapter instead of 3-pole, which is the standard kind. A 4-pole has 3 rings on the tip instead of 2. Radio Shack has them, as do several Ebay sellers.

I had the same thing happen to me and no one at Verizon or Motorola was able to help until I finally found out doing my own research. Using the standard adapter I also only got 1 side of audio in the earbuds or both in mono, depending on which standard adapter I tried. Using the 4-pole you will get stereo and no strange speed dialing.
