    Hey guys, this is my first message here at the forum, and to be honest i would have not posted it had i found something that worked as a solution for my problem on any other forum or website. And seriously, i'm at my wits' end...

    So the story goes like this...

    Not long ago i reinstalled my Windows Vista (32-bit version) and today i reinstalled my Motorola Phone Tools. So when i ran it the first time and i got the "new software available" splash screen. So i clicked on it, downloaded and installed the new software (which now is 5.13b) and it also downloaded the Motorola Software Update version C01.11.36. Now... i have a Moto ROKR E8. and first time around i tried to update the software... everything went in order, it recognized my phone, i saw the IMEI no, Model no, and Operator, plus a small icon of my phone on the left hand side. So... i clikced next, accepted the license agreement, got feedback that there was a new software update ready for my phone and i clikced install... the phone restarted and at about 90% of the "rebooting your phone" stage the phone disconnected and i got a "updated failed" message. So i restared the application but... SURPRISE... i can't get it to work for the life of me! It keeps saying "connect the device" and i connected it, i reconnected it, i swtiched the phone connection to modem, i restarted the PC and the phone over a dozen times now, and i get the same thing: screen with "what you need to know" and under it the "connect device message". I even tried reinstalling all motorola software and drivers... everything i try now just does not seem to be working... even though the phone is plugged in i keep getting a "phone not connected message" . If i unplug/plug the phone after this i get the "Motorola Software Update is reading configuration data from your Motorola device, please wait." message but after that it's just back to the splash screen .

    I honestly don't know what to do anymore with it! Phone tools works fine... but this... i don't understand why it worked a couple of times before and then suddenly stoped working.

    I think that many people had a similar problem to this... because i many phones have tricky update services... so please... if you're one of those people who found a solution fo this... PLEASE HELP!!!

    I have a similar problem.
    I can't get USB modem drivers installed. (XP Pro SP3 IE8)
    Had to revert to an external card reader.
    I think it's the moto software.
    What version of MTP are you try to use?
    Make sure it's the latest and greatest. (currently its version 5)

    Hey,

    Yeah, it's the latest (5). I called the service agency today and they told me i should take it to the shop i bought it from and they will update the software.
    It can't be done by PC at home because the Sotfware Update Porgram is unavailable in my country.
