hi, i have a KRAZR k1m motorola phone, and i was just wondering about long-term storage of the phone.. The user manual says "When storing your battery, keep it uncharged in a cool, dark, dry place." But every where else i check on the internet says not to store it uncharged, and to store it at 40% charged.. It is a lithium-ion battery. how full should it be when i store it?? and I shouldn't keep it inside the phone, but in a zip-lock bag, right???

    Re: battery storage

I checked a few different sites, and all of them recommended storing Lithium Ion batteries at 40-50 % charge, and at normal (i.e., non-excessive) temps.

Actually, with Li-ION batteries, it really isn't all that important how charged it is. They don't form a memory like Nickelcadium so they won't be permanently damaged by how you store it.

I suggest following the instruction manual with the book, after all, they designed the battery and the phone.

I thought that LiIon batteries did have the memory issue, and that it was the NiMH batteries that didn't.

    Re: battery storage

Nope, the entire point of the Lithium batteries is to avoid the memory issue, hence why they're the most popular battery for cell phone use.

Remember that all batteries eventually do go dead and have life issues. This is still the case for Lithium Ion batteries. They're expected to last about 1 year before a replacement is needed.
