Before You Get Started


1. Keep in mind that rooting your phone will void your warranty! So you have to be sure that this is what you want to do.
2. If you are certain about this, make sure your phone is fully charged to avoid any interruptions during the rooting process.
3. Now you have to first unlock the bootloader. You can do that here.

Files Required

1. Download ClockworkMod Recovery image here - first link in the post.
2. Download SuperUser Zip here - second link in the post.
3. Download Fastboot here.

Flashing CWM Recovery

1. Download all the files from the links above and put them on your desktop.
2. Extract the files from Fastboot to your desktop. You can use a program such as WinRAR.
3. Make sure your phone is turned ON and connect your Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE to your computer using the USB cable.
4. Open a Command Prompt window on the desktop of your computer by pressing and holding the Shift Key on the keyboard and right-clicking an empty area on the screen. You will see a new menu –> click Open command prompt here.
5. Now type: adb reboot bootloader.

This will reboot your phone into bootloader mode.

6. After your device has been booted, use the following command in the same Command Prompt Window: fastboot flash recovery cwmrecovery.img
7. This will install CWM Recovery on your phone. It may take a few minutes to install.
8. After a successful install, type the following command that will reboot your phone: fastboot reboot
9. The CWM Recovery has now been flashed on your phone.

To Root Your Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE

1. Connect the device to your computer using the USB cable.
2. Now you have to transfer the SuperUser Zip to the root folder on the microSD card of your phone.
3. When the transfer is completed, open a Command Prompt on your computer’s desktop where the Fastboot files are located. Open a Command Prompt window by pressing and holding the Shift Key on the keyboard and right-clicking an empty area on the screen.
4. Into the Command Prompt window type: adb reboot recovery

This will reboot your phone into the recovery mode.

5. After you enter the recovery mode, select install zip from sdcard
6. Now choose zip from sdcard.
7. Now you have to have to go to the SuperUser Zip filed that you had transferred to your phone and choose to be flashed to your Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE.
8. Now it should start flashing on your phone. It will take a few minutes to finish the process.
9. After the file flashed on your phone, select the reboot system now option found on the main menu of the recovery.
10. You phone will now reboot.

Congratulations! You should now have CWM Recovery as well as Root access on your Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE.
