Not at all Griff. I'm not even using Data Pilot anymore. Haven't used it for a year. Using MPTs now with no issues. I just recommended DataPilot to the original poster as an option as it bailed me out after spending 1000s of hours with no success in getting MPT to sync my calendar from Outlook to my phone.

Funny thing is, MPT works FLAWLESSLY now on my new computer when it was a nightmare on my old computer.

This business about getting phone sync software drivers to install properly really seems to cause a lot of people problems.

Glad to hear you got the issues with DataPilot resolved.

I can only give one warning about data pilot "DO NOT USE THIS SOFTWARE!!!!" For some time I have been a mpt user, with no problems, and being that I was starting a small business I decided to go to data pilot being it had all the cables I needed a all the software bundled together in on convienent package, "Great!" I thought and it worked fine until about 2 weeks ago when I tried to re-hack my slvr with pst, moto kit and all the other good stuff you need to add the vassio itunes to your phone. Well long story short it didn't happen (eventually it did) so happens that one of the drivers data pilot puts on your computer takes the place of the good old motorola modem driver and when your plug your phone all you get is "windows has detected new hardware and is installing the drivers for said hardware yadda yadda yadda..... after all is said and done your device is detected as Susteen usb cable. I spent about 10 days trying to find a way around this and deleting data pilot didn't help being it was a driver file that I also deleted about 100 times and kept coming back, good thing for all the current users of data pilot is it was a update driver so if you have the auto update and install turned on turn it off, the only fix I found was to restore my computer to before I even installed the software, which really sucked. It's good for putting ringtones and pics, and tranfering phone books, but if you want to do any real hacks to your phone (which any real techno geek does) then go with what works... even if it only works half the time.

This is soooooo deja vu. The MPT software is so totally VOODOO software.

I had E X A C T L Y the same problems you have outlined here. I installed, uninstalled, reinsalled, downloaded drivers, uninstalled drivers, reinstalled drivers ... and did it all standing up first and then later standing on my head, then doing it all with only my left hand, then with only my right hand. I TRIED EVERYTHING. Nothing worked. I considered having the Pope perform an exorcism on my computer. I gave up and went to a different software program (DataPilot - www.susteen.com). That worked.

Then my computer was stolen. I went out and bought a new computer and installed the MPT software on it just on the wild chance it might work. BAM-O, worked perfectly without any glitches. I've been using MPT now for several months without incident. Works perfectly. I have no explanation why.

You might try DataPilot if you just find yourself going crazy. MPT is cool if you can get it to work but the horror stories of people like you (and me before) are not unique. There are many of them across forums like this everywhere on the Internet.

I'll say it again, MPT is voodoo software.

If you install MPT, you dont need P2K. I have only MPT installed and it works like a charm. My OS is windows XP.

of course I always refer to "C:\Program Files\Motorola Phone Tools\Inf" which contain the drivers.

about windows 2000, MPT "read me" file says it is compatible with windows 2000.

what thread which you like me to see???

Yes I did see this, thats why when asking for the drivers I wanted you to point it to your mpt folder, I may also have some bad news, I am going to do some searching regarding mpt and windows 2000/me

Thank you everybody for your replies...

    - I installed MPT from a source ver. 3.5 and after instalation I updated it to the latest version which is 4.2.1a.
    - Griffzan, I already uninstal and reinstal the program many times before without any success.
    - concerning the firewall I disable it when I start MTP, which is mean it be disabled when I am connecting my phone.
    - I am using windows 2000 SP4.
    - I don't have any tracking program running in the background.

if you have a look on the photos I posted, it is clear that the phone is installed correctly but there is a problem in the usb driver, did you niticed this.

If you do have a recent version and are still having this problem, when you try and reinstall the drivers point it to your mpt folder. I've seen this problem with nextels, and sometimes with moto's but usually it corrects itself after an update. If all else fails do a complete uninstall (I know you prob already have) and redownload the program from the free stuff fro your moto thread, and reinstall, after installing it should promt you to do a auto update if not you've tracked down part of the problem, also I noticed I had a hard time because my firewall was on (try disabling it, before you download and reinstall) Also I hate to ask now after all this time but what version of windows are you running and do you have any tracking programs running in the background?

    1. I understand that you installed MPT. But what version? Did you make sure that it is up-to-date. You should have the latest version. I think some of the earlier ones like 3.x dont have drivers for Razr.
    2. You may have to run the live update a few times to reach the latest version 4.2.1b. Live update can run even without setting up a phone. In fact the software should check for updates when you start up MPT.
    3. After that try to connect your phone. It should not find all the drivers and recognize your phone. Connect the phone after you start MPT and it tells you to connect the phone. If you already have it connected before you start MPT, sometimes windows wont recognize and you may have to unplug and replug the phone to the usb cable.
