    Mobile phone rates are pretty high in Europe. My advice is to use a landline or VOIP for you calls to the US and use a cell phone only as back up or for texting.

    vonage is greay I think you can forward calls to cell from your vonage phone?

    In relation to sending international text messages, you can check out FishText.com. You can send messages to the US for €0.02 if you download the java application to your mobile phone.

    As for phone calls from your mobile, i don't know any good services i am afraid, they are harder to come by!

    So i know things are different than here in the states. Im getting stationed in Ramstein Germany for 3 years, and just looking for my best options.

    I have been told vonage is good to have for a house line because i can get a US number and be able to call there and recieve calls at no additional charge, but i am in need of a cell as well.

    Any info is greatly appreciated.
