Just bought a Boost i285, activated the phone through boost....

My wife found an i730 that had a Nextel sim card, the service was deactivated, so I took it out and slipped the already activated boost i285 sim card in the i730, worked without me doing anything extra....so now she has her i730 converted to boost, and I have a naked i285

I did tell Nextel that I did this, and they didn't care, in fact the manual says you can swap boost sim cards into other compatible phones, and it would work.
They told me they may have to change the Imei code or something like that, if I switch to a different phone, I didn't, because it worked already..

Now I have to buy a new Boost sim card for my i285

I'm only posting this because I was asking if this scenario would work, and I just went and did it, and found it does...
hopefully it helps others who are like me,,,,new and clueless

    boost

Yeah, now Boost is telling me the phone will burn up, and that I can't do what I did.

It's the correct sim card, she said the i730 needs to say boost on it...
    This is NOT true!

But anyway, the i285 that I activated, I can NOT buy a sim card for it, because the SN and IME code and all that is tied to the SIM I am using in the i730......

Will the i730 really burn up if it is a Nextel i730 with a Boost sim in it??

I'm now thinking I will just put the sim back in the i285 and sell the i730.
And buy another i730 to avoid the hassle.....

This i730 I found was last used august, and reported lost...it does have a sim card for nextel......
    Maybe $60???

the i730 will not burn up. the screen on the i730 should say boost on it when u have the boost card in it. there will be no problems with the boost card in the i730. my girl has one of my i730's with a boost card(out of an i285) in it. she uses it everyday with no problems.

I am told the i285 works with nextel if it's unlocked. I have one double locked, it wants a 8 digit 'special code'. I'm working on getting that done. I have software, I need a serial cable, usb doesn't work.

I have a i730 that was on a subscribed and closed nextel account. It works with my sub'd nextel sim as well as a boost sim. The screen still says nextel. I got the sim off ebay for $20+ dollars and it worked right away. It came with $10 worth of time. It took a little doing to get the number changed to a local one but it all went fine.

Wife and I have nextel, the boost was for 13 yr old daughter and it's all good. Boost is a little expensive but it works good for us.
