I am pretty sure that if the phone is unlocked you just have to put
your AT&T SIM in and it should work. If the phone is locked you need
to get the unlock code and after that it will work on any GSM
provider.

If you don't request the code from the provider, which will be for
free, you will have to spend money from online services that do this.
Here is one http://www.unlockmyphonenow.com/ but there are plenty. A
Google search will bring up lots of them.
This one is just about the cheapest.
