Caller ID problem

Hi,
I just received my cell phone yesterday, whichi is great. However, i'm 16, and I got it because I do photography and film, and im always out of town, I needed something for my parents and friends to keep in touch with me when im not home, which is always. But seeing as i m16, I had my mom sign the papers for the phone. My problem is, when I call someone, my number appears with my moms name above it. Its my phone, and my mom and I have diffrent last names, so it confuses people I call, because they dont know that when it says Glennia, that its actually me.

So, is it possible for me/her/us to change my display name on Caller IDs? My friend Sam has a phone with Cingular his provider, and on my home phone it has his first and last name instead of his parents.

Well, I just found out from my friend Sam that his dad signed the papers and all that, but he shares his dad's name, so it worked out good for him.

Is there a way, however, that it can be changed to display my name? If my mom and I shared the same last name, it wouldnt be that big of a deal, but we dont.

Unfortunatly there isn't a way to do this. Your mom's name is on the contract so there really isn't a way for this to work. My wife's phone number shows my name which it took some of her friends a minute to figure out, but it eventually worked out. You may be able to ask someone at Cingular if they can rewrite the contract to put your name on it and your mom as a cosigner. It can't hurt to ask.

As for now, I have turned off my caller ID, as in my number doesnt go out, it just comes up as "unknown" or whatever on a phone.
