Any tips?

I need a(n extra) phone for a suicide hotline I'm volunteering for in Massachusetts, USA. I usually return calls for 30/45 min to 2 hours per week (all in one night, usually not over the weekend). Reliability of the phone connection is obviously crucial, and lost calls or (too) bad speech quality are unacceptable. Right, and I won't be needing the phone beyond summer 2009 (so all those 2-year contracts don't help).

While I'm willing to volunteer time, sleep, and money for the hotline work, I'd rather donate money to worthier causes than phone providers... so I'm looking for any tips to find a cheap solution for this particular phone use. I suspect that no providers have special plans for volunteers?! So the cheapest SIM card rates I've seen so far were 8 ct/min for 600 min (from popgsm.com)... and expired after 60 days, so it'd be a minimum of $25 per month (or easily more, depending on how many minutes I need).

I don't know if this will help but maybe if you compare the prepaid phones you might be able to find something that fits your useage requirements. Just an idea, sorry if it didn't help.
