    Does boost work on this?

Can you change chip with I860?

I got my Blackberry 7520 returned to me for free from my company. Since I left the company I no longer have data service. Except for instant email my I860 is fine. Except for large contact list and attachments why should I pay for Blackberry data service?

My girlfriend is currently using a blackberry phone with Sim Boost Card. She was able to send and receive messages. She also was able to make calls.

Now when I put my i860 sim card in there, i was able to make and send calls. I am not sure about the web.

Now, when I made thee swap from i860 to the blackberry (new 7520), nextel somehow left the web running my i860. It looks as though the i860 has a data plan on it. The webpage looks like the one on my blackberry. It never displayed like that before.

Anyway, i hope i came close to answering some of your questions... If not, try www.howardforums.com.. There are tons of tips and tricks for nextel phones.

Thanks I'll try it. I went to a Nextel rep kind of said the same thing. The funny thing he said Nextel would only give me $50.00 for the 7520. I may just buy a boost card for I860 and reactivate the 7520. My new boss is now liking what is available to Blackberry. He is trying to get Blackberry.

do you still have the 7520. did you ever have it active for just phone use without the blackberry email service? I would like to have the blackberry but don't want to spend the extra $45 a month for it.

I still have a the 7520 and I have a 7510. Yes you can have the phone and direct connect without the data. I wanted the boost to do this. But without the data service it is not worth buying. But it doesn't work with boost. The Blackberry is good with the data service but not without it. But in order to open email attachments you have to buy more software and same with office files. The Blackberry is best when you have Enterprise server then it like have your office with you. What I wanted the 7520 was the gps. But the gps is only for telling you where you are not for directions.

I would get a good java phone if I were you. I'm using my i860 and its almost as good plus I got full gps (Telenav). But my new job is buying Blackberry phones now so I will be back up soon.

Blackberry is good for business use but overkill for average home user. Plus without the data service it's not as good as a smartphone.

thanks for the info., just a couple more questions.

can you use nextel data service which is like 19.99/month and access the internet on the blackberry. Is it possible to access nextel's mobile email on the blackberry. I have that on my i730 and I like it but if I could get it on a blackberry that would be perfect. I also use AIM on my i730. is that offered with the blackberry. I am thinking I might just end up with the i860. I was waiting for the i930 but it is taking way to long.

No you have to use Blackberry's dat plan. I think you have to have a phone plan also, not sure.

Blackberry's data plan is called web client it does everything the I730 does and better. Your emails come right on your phone like text messages so you don't have to log in to get them I loved that. So people say it was too long a delay but I didn't notice it. I'm from Philly. With the office attachment reading program and enterprise software its a mobile office. I'm too cheap to spend the extra $44.00 for the unlimited data plan. I may have turned it back on but the camera and the gps on my I860 got me spoiled.

    Blackberry Info

THE BLACKBERRY 7520 REQUIRES THE DATA PLAN TO FUNCTION ON EMAIL. REGULAR WEB SERVICE WILL ALLOW NOL USAGE BUT NOT EMAIL ACCESS. NEXTEL BLOCKS THE EMAIL FUNCTION AVAILABLE ON THE REGULAR PHONE NOL MENU TO BLOCK THE USAGE OF POP3 ON THE BLACKBERRY THROUGH NOL. THEREFORE THE ONLY WAY TO USE EMAIL ON THE BLACKBERRY IS USING THE DATA PLAN.

PERSONALLY ITS SEEMS EXPENSIVE TO ME, BUT I AM A DEALER AND PAY 15/MO FOR UNLIMITED SO FOR THAT ITS WORTH IT. YOU CAN ONLY GET THE DATA SERVICE FOR BLACKBERRY IF YOU HAVE A BLACKBERRY LISTED ON YOU ACCOUNT (A BLACKBERRY SIM CARD). YOU CAN NOT TRANSFER YOUR PHONES SIM CARD.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SELL THE 7520 LET ME KNOW.

I AM A NEXTEL DEALER & SERVICE CENTER NATIONALLY.

I plug in my I860 card into my 7520 Blackberry

    The phone worked fine.

I was able to surf the web and get my emails from yahoo and aol but I could not send any emails.

Somehow I think the data service would have start droping after awhile because the phone started updating.

I had a dealer offer to by my 7520 for $50 and the 7510 for $20. I'm keeping both plus my job just got a blackberry account so I'll be back on soon.

Waitng for It Dept to configure Interprise server accounts. Somebody should give me a bonus.
