Hi There, Question, I Want To Buy A Unlocked Cingular Phone I Saw.. But I Have Tmobile Service And A Tmobile Sim Card.. Do You Know If I Insert My Tmobile Sim Into This Phone If It Will Be Tmobile Specific? I Heard There Was Something That Had To Be Done To The Phone To Make Sure The Tmobile Preferences Are Put In For Tzones, Tmobile Welcome Screen, Messaging Systems, Etc?
    Can Anyone Help? Thanks

You will need to configure T-Mobile's T-Zones and MMS settings which can be done here: T-Mobile Wireless Data Configurator
...there's a drop down list to select your phone from. There are certain phones that might not be there.

What if it's not there, can you use the model one before it? (Like going from W810 to W800)

This works for some phones, and it won't hurt anything to try it out.

Re: Unlocked phones and inserting sims?

I also have a question about unlocked phones...I am interested in the Treo 600 or 650 ( not sure yet on which one is the best bang for the buck). I have a plan under T mobile, and the Treo's i was looking at are under Verizon, Sprint, and Cingular. If i buy an unlocked Treo from any of these providers will my sim card work? Or should i buy one from Cingular since its "GSM" or what ever that means....

    Thanks

P.S. Does anyone know if the buttons on the 600's light up like the 650's?

I see on ebay that many of the treo's are "GSM" but they dont have the Cingular logo....Should i only get treo's that have the cingular logo, so i would be able to use it with my T mobile plan, or can i buy a treo that is badged "PALMone"

Unlocked phones also come unbranded. T-Mobile use to have the Treo 600 awhile back, you might still be able to find one.

In order to use a Tmobile SIM in a phone it will either need to be branded for Tmobile, or be an unlocked GSM phone. If it is branded for cingular then you will have to unlock it for it to work with tmobile. Verzon/Sprint phones wont work because they are CDMA and don't use SIM cards.
