Dial 222 and this will take you to the VOICEmail setup and it will do it
automatically

Basically you call 222 and listen to the woman going through all the
instructions. During the call you will receive a text message. Once the
woman says we are now connecting you to voicemail you can hang up.
Read the text message and delete it.
Turn phone off and then on again.
If pressing and holding 1 doesn't take you straight to voicemail you
need to manually store the voicemail number into your phone. To do this
dial *#67# and press call (as if you were calling this number).
The phone will then display your personal voicemail number. Make a note
of this number exactly as it is formatted, it may be something like
+44057 followed by your ported mobile number.
Go into your messaging menu and look for the voicemail settings. Go to
the voicemail number and manually store the voicemail number that was
displayed from dialling *#67#.
Exit the menu. You should now be able to access your voicemail without
problem.

having said that, if you pay by monthly direct debit then your voicemail
number will not show any resemblance to your mobile number.

I have recently set up my voicemail on Virgin. When I dialled 222, a
text message came through almost immediately and I could not enter any
digits when requested, I switched the phone off and on, and rang a
second time, this time I tried to open and read the text, this gave me
control of the keyboard back, enabling me to complete the registration
process, I then switched the phone off and on again and everything
worked.

That's how it is supposed to work but it isn't always the case. My
sister had problems recently setting up voicemail on a new Virgin
Motorola V3. In the end Customer Services explained how to retrieve the
number and store it manually, as I have explained in my previous post.

When I did just this, Virgin told me to make sure I had set up my
Voicemail before my number ported over from Orange, both on the phone
and in the letter telling me my porting date. Apparently, it is very
difficult to do after the number has been ported.
