Surely, unless you make a formal complaint, they'd be breaking the
law to help you identify anyone on their network?

So go to the police. What can T-Mobile do..? They're not going to give out
information without a court order or something similar.

Why didn't you get the persons name when you spoke to them? Did they refuse
to give you their name?
