Blackberries..

Hmm.. I was looking to get a blackberry pearl in Sprint. I was wondering if it's REQUIRED to get the blackberry data plan thing to get it. Can I just use the phone without going on internet and stuff. All I really want to do is text and use the phone. But in general, I just want the phone. Do I HAVE to get the plan or can I just use my regular plan and the phone would work fine?

pretty sure u can just buy the phone..but sometimes their is specials where if you wana buy a phone u have to get the data plan..

You should look into Sprints new "Simply Everything Plan" it is unlimited everything from voice to data/text/wireless web all for $99. This includes Blackberries. So instead of having to purchase a plan and a BB data pkg you get it all for one price. Definitly worth looking into.

but i'm in a family plan, with my mom and my brother. is that only for individuals or can it be for families too?

I am pretty sure it is for individuals, moreso phones. I just got rid of my BB and now have a Samsung Slider. I think I will like it. In short, the simple everything plans are great, and unlimited internet, etc... is in the plan. Just look at the minutes you need and pay accordingly. Starts at $69.99 for 450 minutes and unlimited net, text, etc... and goes up according to how many minutes you need. The $99 one is the one with unlimited minutes.

Yes, it is required. You cannot order a blackberry without the data plan attached to the line.
