I have the "300 Text Messages" service, but whenever I send a message to my brother they charge me $0.05 even though I have that service. And my brother and I have a family plan, so he should be able to receive and send msgs without them charging us because when you apply for a service, all phones in the family plan gets that right?
any one know if this is supposed to be like this or what?
thanks

The 300 SMS feature is a per line feature that is not shared on the plan. If you have 2 lines on a FamilyTime plan, it sounds as though you only have the feature on one of the lines. The plan is shared, the optional features are per line. So it would be $2.99 for the SMS Feature it sounds like you have, PER LINE... and right now, you only have it on one line.

Call T-Mobile up, their customer support is great and they will fix it just the way you want. They might even clear up the ones you were charged for before setting up the upgrade correctly...

It was never stated that your brother was charged for the message either. I thought it was just a case of you having throught it was on your line, but it was actually on your brothers line. 99% of the time, if you are getting charged for text messaging it's for 1 of 3 reasons:
#1: It's not on the line being charged for the SMS, or
#2: You went over the 300/1000 limit that your feature allows for you to use, or
#3: It was charges for message sent before the feature was added (if it was added at a date later than that of the lines activation).
If it appears the feature is on your line, and you are continuing to get charged for text messaging up to the number your feature allows for you to use, then by all means contact customer care in order to be credited for the sms that you should not being paying per message... but per your initial post I wanted to make it clear that, no, becuase you're on a FamilyTime plan does not mean any optional services you signup for can be utilized by all the lines on the account.
