During the 2 year contract would you be able to purchase the phone u had at the same discounted price if it "broke" during the 2 years (no insurance bought). so say for instance i bought a T309 for 50 (around there) would i be able to buy the same phone for the same price?

Not until you are ready for an upgrade. You can always purchase the phone elsewhere, instead of through T-Mobile if you find a better price. Look on Ebay and see what you can find.

If you get a new phone from TMobile (paying retail price), you have the option of getting insurance for the new handset! That's a good thing if you are planning to get an expensive phone.

I agree! When I used to work for a store that also sell cell phones, I hear so many sad stories about their cell phones and they don't have insurance for it.

If you still insist of not getting insurance, the only thing you can do is do a upgrade to replace your phone. That means you have to sign another contract for another year or two.

With tmobile services, if you sign up for equipment protection, I would very highly suggest you to check the insurance deductible for that particular phone. With tmobile insurance, they have different deductibles for different phone models and for some models the deductible is ridiculously high.
