    Hi

Is anyone else having trouble getting their cashback letters delivered
    to e2save?

I've got two contract on the go with them just now - sent the cashback
claim for the first one a couple of weeks ago via Royal Mail Recorded
Delivery. After a week it was still tracking as 'in transit' with no
confirmed delivery so I thought I'd better resend (just in case). This
second letter also appears to have gone missing.

Just last week I sent the claim in for my second line - it too hasn't
    been confirmed as being delivered.

All were sent to the address on the e2save site (Chequeback Offers, PO
    Box 4259, Wednesbury, WS10 7WZ).

I've contacted e2save via their website asking if they could have a look
on their system to see if any have been received (using the RM tracking
number - they've been able to do this previously).

I've tried contacting the Royal Mail but they're next to useless - they
just keep bleating on about Recorded Delivery not being a guaranteed
service. I appreciate this but surely these items should have been
delivered after a couple of weeks!

To make sure I don't lose out on the cashback I think I'll need to send
both these claims in again this time via Special Delivery with
consequential loss insurance - will cost about £5 each though!

To me this just seems to be an effort by the Royal Mail to force people
into using their more expensive delivery service when the cheaper one
would have seemed to be perfectly sufficient. After sending in the
repeat claims I'll certainly be getting in touch with them to complain
but I'd be interested in hearing if anyone else has has problems.

    Thanks

    Alan

I've never had problems with Recorded Delivery in the last 5 years -
although you're right - the reason why there are several levels of service
is because Royal Mail take better care of Special Delivery cases.

In this case, I would send everything again by Special Delivery. In future,
for this specific scenario as you are having trouble with Recorded Delivery
is to next time send off by standard post as well (on a different day from a
different area if possible). It is highly unlikely that your Recorded
Delivery post and your standard post do not reach the intended destination.

Still, its more hassle than Special Delivery.

    One final thing.......
    a) You should be able to get your package below 100g if you make sure that
you put in only the bare minimum into the package, taking the price into the
£3.85 rather than the £4.25 bracket. Then add consequential loss if
    desired.
    b) In this case, if they are going to the same destination, write a letter
detailing the contents clearly, but put everything in one package. I do it
    all the time.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's e2save themselves that have made the
letters go missing, I sent in a cashback claim in February, they sent
me a letter telling me I'd sent it in too early, despite it being my
4th bill like they requested. Anyway, they said in the letter they
would hold onto the claim and process it the following month, guess
what? Yep, nothing, tried to e mail them several times, each time they
just ignore it, so I've now sent them a fax, if that doesn't work I
think the next stage will be to contact carphone warehouse head office
followed by the small claims court!

I know one things for sure, I wont be dealing with them again.

Thing is I've had two contracts with e2save before and they've been
fine. In fact I had the same trouble with the last cheque for one of
the deals but that was going to their old address. They advised me to
resend to the new address (this one) and it went through fine. Royal
Mail tracked it OK too. It's going to a PO Box so I couldn't really see
how it could be interfered with by e2save.

Yep, I'll certainly send by Special this time. I've got a
phones2udirect deal too and I'll definitely need to send it by Special
as they only seem to take original bills (whereas e2save accept web
    printouts)

Ah but sadly the latest round of price rises from the Royal Mail have
    taken the 100g cost up to £4.10 + £1.25 for consequential loss = £5.35
(or £5.75 if it ends up going over 100g). :-(

I considered this but I saw e2save mentioned in their cashback FAQs
accompanying the vouchers that separate claims have to be sent in
separate envelopes (I was guessing so they would both be connected to
unique tracking numbers which they seem to use on their system too -
certainly when I called them before about a previous one going missing
via their old address they were able to look up the tracking number on
their system). I'll try and clarify that though because it would be
good to save a fiver. Just glad most of my deals are only needing 2 or
3 bills sent in and not 4 - otherwise the postage costs fairly mount up!

There can be problems with logging receipt of Recorded Delivery (and for
that matter Special Delivery) letters to PO boxes - I don't understand the
details but it depends upon the arrangements connected with the PO box. Is
there an alternative non PO box address?

PO Boxes wont get a signature since thats what they are...a

why not check on companies house website for a registered address, or some
form of admin centre address for your recorded \registered posting..

Not as far as I'm aware - e2save used to be a non-PO Box address but
ironically the last time I sent something to there it didn't get
tracked. e2save said to resend to their PO Box and it did!

I've had confirmed delivery to them before. There has to be someone
there to put stuff into the boxes so surely they should be able to do
it? e2save themselves recommend sending by Recorded Delivery to that
address - if it's sent to another address then this would be at variance
to their T&Cs so I would have thought they could deny payment on that
basis. I'll see what they say in reply to my e-mail.

    Alan,

The problem is that Recorded Delivery to a PO Box results in an attempted
delivery failed card being placed in the box. The person collecting the mail
from the box then has to ask for the item by handing the delivery card (and
proof of id) to the relevant Post Office. If they don't do this the item is
    not collected.

I have a suspicion that sometimes, with a PO Box, the item is not tracked
correctly at the point the card is placed in the PO Box.

In any case the item should be returned to sender after 7 days (but maybe
this isn't possible if it hasn't been tracked correctly?)

Your previous experience of losing a Recorded Delivery item when sent to
E2Save's non PO address is cause for suspicion though - surely this is more
    than bad luck.

Perhaps Special Delivery is the only way to go. I know, having read your
experience, that if I do business with E2Save I will use Special Delivery.

Often a PO Box number is just effectively a delivery code [1] and the
mail get seemlessly redirected to a physical address by the Royal Mail
(who collect signatures at that point). Of course I've no idea whether
that is the case in this instance, but for a company such as e2save
(with lots of mail) I would think that this would be the case.

[1] used by companies who want a consistent address regardless of
whether they move locations; or for companies who don't want to give out
    their physical location; etc.

Thank you both for your replies - very informative. It does seem a bit
hit or miss with these deliveries so I'll definitely need to go down the
    SD route I think!

Yes - I've found that Recorded Delivery has become useless recently.
Also, they will not investigate non-delivery until after 28 days.

I always send by Special Delivery. I don't bother with consequential
loss cover as - if the voucher is one of those that can't be
replaced then it can be argued that it has the equivalent monetary
    value as the claim.

Don't be so sure, try writing a claim that doesn't sound like, "as a
consequence of your losing my voucher I am unable to claim my
cashback". Sounds like consequential loss to me.

In my experience, the "tracking" of RD items by RM is next to useless.
In any case, it would only amount to noting that the particular item had
been delivered and when - it isn't "tracked" though the system. I spent
a week checking the RM site to see if my RD item (cancelling a contract)
had been delivered. I phoned RM and they couldn't tell me. I was about
to get worried when the reply came! In effect, RM had delivered the
letter but hadn't posted the delivery confirmation on their system.
Frankly, this isn't much use - particularly for cash back deals, which
    (I gather) are usually time-limited.
