Hi
I replaced my nokia 6210 with a Qtek 2020i pda phone. I moved my sim
chip from the nokia to the qtek. The phone feature of the qtek works
fine. However I cannot get internet access via wap on the qtek whereas
I could on the nokia 6210.
I have tried the method featured repeatedly in various posts :
Tap on Settings, Connections, My ISP, Add a new modem connection :
Select a modem = Cellular Line (GPRS)
Access point name = wap.vodafone.co.uk
User name = wap
Password = wap
Domain = Blank
I have also tried :
Select a modem = Cellular Line (GPRS)
Access point name = internet
User name = web
Password = web
Domain = Blank
On both connection methods I cannot establish a gprs connection to
vodafone. I get the message :
Cannot connect for an unknown reason.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong. I phoned Vodafone who did not
have any advice to offer as the qtek 2020i phone is not supported by
them.
Thanks in advance.

I have now found the settings that allow me to establish a GPRS
connection to vodafone on the qtek 2020i. I used :
APN = wap.vodafone.co.uk
user = wap
password = wap
This allows me to establish a GPRS connection to vodafone. I have
verified this because if I enter a password other than "wap" I cannot
establish a GPRS connection, so password authentication is taking place
and the GPRS connection is genuine.
However the problem still remains in that despite establishing a GPRS
connection I cannot access any intenet web pages using the pocket
internet explorer. Whenever I try to access any web page I get the
message "Cannot Connect". I have tried to use MSN messenger and that
too cannot connect.
If anybody has managed to get a qtek pda phone to connect to the
internet using gprs in the uk then please advise how you did it.
Thanks

Re: GPRS access to Vodafone on Qtek 2020i
Note that you can't access arbitrary web pages / use non-WAP stuff via a
plain, cheap WAP subscription. You must subscribe to "true" GPRS access in
order to get it right.

May still be the wrong connection details though. Vodafone customers need
to use different connections for PAYG and contract. Details for UK and
Republic of Ireland are here:
