Only if you tape it to the roof..! How people expect GPS receivers to see
satellites from inside a car I've no idea, unless it's right by a window.
I had to fit an external aerial for my Garmin. And how those those boxes
that are supposed to be able to track a car by being clamped *underneath*
it are supposed to work is anybody's guess..!

Hmm, maybe, but seeing 5 satellites (the minimum required for a good fix)
from *underneath* a metal box is pushing the bounds of credibility to me.
Has anyone ever seen one of these things actually working..?

My GPS receiver, a Globalsat BT-338, sits between the front seats behind
the handbrake. In a cubby hole. With the lid closed.
Works perfectly.

What car do you drive..? It certainly wouldn't work in mine (Fiesta with
heated windscreen, very effective RF shield..!) On the other hand, if you
drive a soft top ;-)

Mostly my 5 series but it's also worked when similarly placed in the wife's
3 series plus a whole range of other hire stuff ranging from a Micra, Yaris,
Matiz (shudder) up to a Nissan Patrol (which had truly shocking factory Sat
Nav).

Yep, heard those are buggers for GPS.
