I've just bought an unlocked and unused Blackberry 8800 on Ebay. It's
Vodafone branded but takes my Asda SIM ok or an Orange one I tried in
it so it is definitely unlocked.

I'd like to put my Asda SIM in and use the BB for web browsing, but
when it comes to setting the Blackberry there are only three fields to
    fill in

    APN
    Username
    Password

I've filled in the fields with the info I got from Asda Mobile but it
still won't give me internet access.

I remember when I set up my Nokia phone for net access via the Asda
SIM there were loads of fields to fill in but I can't find anywhere on
the Blackberry to enter all that stuff.

I've managed to access the internet using a Vodafone prepay SIM as
that seems happy with only the three fields filled in with Vodafone
details - but then it was a Vodafone Blackberry I suppose.

Any ideas how I can access the internet using my Asda SIM?

    Thanks

Have you called ASDA mobile customer services? What was their answer?

I have, they said the don't support the Blackberry!

They'd previously given me precise step by step instructions for
putting the settings into my Nokia phone

I am but the problem is that there are lots of details shown on the
Asda site and I can only enter three of them:

    APN
    Username
    Password

    onto my Blackberry!

Because when I do that it doesn' t work, so I assume, rightly or
wrongly, that it needs a load of other stuff (like my Nokia phone did)
but I can't find where to put them

Which is right. Blackberry's work differently to normal phones - i.e.
to access the internet/email you need to have the Blackberry product on
your account. Asda will not do this.

Logically, I think you are correct.

You should be able to get onto the Internet with the APN settings
already mentioned without having to use or pay for Blackberry services -
which, as you correctly say, basically just the push e-mail services.
