Tried all of the above, and i get an error during the install.
I asked Sony about it, but got no reply.

37.7MB and the USB drivers also.
What is the version you have? The latest is 1.5.1
What error are you getting when you try to install the software?

You've admitted it works on a windows 98 machine,

I've told you (and others have told you) it works fine on their WinXP boxes.
SO ITS YOUR COMPUTER.
I really cannot make it any clearer.

Read my post again.
You will see that it does not work properly even on the 98 machine, in other
threads i even asked how to get the synchronisation to work, (that was also
not working).
I you have no clue what else to say apart from "It's your computer" then
leave it.
There is nothing wrong with my computer, so let it go. Maybe you buy bad
computers and assume that everybody else does.
No need to reply, you obviously cannot help me, (yes i heard you great
advice, "It's your computer", thanks).
BTW, What made you look at my past posts? Where you hoping for something?

Re: Cell phone problems, Ericsson is ignoring me
maybe it's a better idea to install the correct bluetooth drivers on your
ps's
or just buy a new BT-usb-dongle with its own drivers, because MS drivers for
BT are not correct programmed

it's your computer, what you need to do is either
buy another one
format your hard drives and reinstall windows
or find someone that understands computers/cell phones well and have him
come to your house and help you

No it is not. My PC works fine. The Sony program is what is crashing, not my
computer.

What a silly suggestion.
Just because a program crashes i must reinstall the whole system.

Given the fact that it works perfectly for other people on XP, the problem
has to lie in your machine. Constantly blaming everything but your machine
is not going to change that! My guess is that you either have a driver
conflict, or some other piece of software is probing the port preventing the
SE software from connecting properly.

If you are unable to find the problem, a clean install is a sensible
suggestion, followed by installing nothing but the SE software - that way,
you'll be able to eliminate any other software that may be causing a
conflict. Also, the advice of unplugging all other USB devices was sound.
If and when you reinstall, make sure that ALL USB devices are unplugged
prior to reinstalling. Installing USB device drivers in the wrong order can
cause all sorts of wierd problems.

You can't expect any software vendor to guarantee that their software will
work on every configuration of machine, and until you have eliminated every
other possibility with your machine, then the software can not be considered
at fault - especially given that it works for so many others.

Re: Cell phone problems, Ericsson is ignoring me
It could be your phone. I have a T39m which works fine in every respect
except with Ericsson's own software! I have installed the software on
several different computers & laptops with different versions of Windows
connecting via the infrared port of the PC or laptop and always get the same
problem the phone resets itself.
The other reason I believe in my case that it is the phone at fault is
because this is my 7th or 8th replacement phone from Ericsson and the others
worked fine with my computer (also other computers) and Ericsson's software
(despite the fact that these phones had other well-known T39 faults).
Personally although I would very much like to use the Ericsson software I
just don't bother anymore. My current T39m is my 7th or 8th replacement
phone as each phone I got had a different problem, I figure the infrared
problem this one has is not worth arguing with Ericsson about as it is the
best one in a long line of phones.
That said, I found that whether or not I got help from Ericsson very much
depended on the person on the other end of the phone, so persistence and
patience is the key. In general I have found Ericsson to be good, I
recently encountered a new problem with my T39m and rang Ericsson to ask
what to do and even though it was out of warranty they offered to fix it
under warranty because of all the problems I had had. So if you are
positive that the problem is not with your computer then try ringing
Ericsson again (ringing generally worked better than emailing).

It clearly is, you've asked for advice / the cause of the problem and people
are telling you the problem. You're not listening.
The problem is compatability with your pc and the phone/phone software.
Something installed on your machine (hardware or software) is causing a
problem.
IT WORKS ON MY MACHINE.
IT WORKS ON COUNTLESS OTHER MACHINES.
Please, do yourself a favour, take it to a friends and try it.

What some of you guys are saying is ridiculous, sony sold me a software and
it does not work. Full stop.
I did my side of the bargain by ensuring that the specs of my PC met their
minimum requirements.
Now i must go and by a new computer because they do not want reply to my
mails, that's silly.

That is not what i was told B4 i bought the PC.

I know it works on many machines, but simply not on mine, (and by the looks
of it also does not work on many other machines).
Sony sold me a software with a phone, they said it should work given my PC
specs but it does not.
The fact that now i must buy a whole new PC because the software is useless
is plain old stupid.
They sold me something that does not work on my machine although it was
supposed to.
Please stop telling me, (IN UPPERCASE ), that i need a new PC, you are
getting boring. I told you B4 there is nothing wrong with my PC, They sold
me a software that does not work, if you fail to understand that, then i am
not sure what else i can say.

I do not care, Sony should help me to solve the problem surely.
I bought the Software and the phone because i had the min specs.

No it is not. I hope that your software does not advise people to re-install
their whole PC.

No but they should help me.
Otherwise i would sell any old crap and say 'sorry it must be your PC'

Sorry for the uppercase but I'm trying to get through to you.
Your pc does not work. I'm _not_ telling you to buy a new one, or format it.
But you've got a long road ahead of you diagnosing the conflict.
Why should Sony help you diagnose the conflict? They've tested the phone on
a clean install of XP on many differnt hardware combinations - it works.
It doesn't work on your machine because another piece of software or
hardware is conflicting with the device/drivers.
You're on your own, if you want to pursue the legal route good luck, but be
prepared to be laughed at.
