    Hello All

I am currently trying to teach myself how to make ringtones and I have read
numerous posts on the Howardsfourms and VXXX forums. I guess I have just
not grasped something yet. If anyone can advise what I am doing wrong or
the correct order please do so and it will be much appreciated.

I currently tried using Mp3 Trimmer and it is a very easy program to use. I
trimmed off what I did not want to the point I had 30 second ringtones. But
of course the files are still too large at about 500 kb. At this point they
are already in mp3 mode and I have also used the fade in and out on them and
saved the file. What I am trying to figure out now is how to lower them
down to a much smaller file and which program to use. I have tried Audacity
and dBpower AMP and I am just not having much luck. So if anyone out there
has an "IDIOT 101" guide on how to create ringtones out of mp3's please let
me know. I have printed out some much information from the above mentioned
forums, that I guess I am confusing everything. Thanks.

    Sylvia

Try changing the sampling rate from what's probably set a 128khz to 32
    khz.

I've had good results using WavePad
<http://nch.com.au/wavepad/index.html>, the basic version of which is
    free.

Once you've edited your MP3 clip to your satisfaction, convert it to
mono and reduce the sample rate to something like 16Khz or even lower.
I find that 8Khz or 11.5Khz gives perfectly acceptable results on my
V3, but ymmv depending on how good your ears are.
