any brand? or any provider's phone?
you can buy any cingular phone and swap your sim card into it. you can also buy any unlocked gsm phone (t-mobile, cellularone, etc). you cannot use any phone designated for sprint, nextel, verizon, alltel, etc.
also, when you buy an unlocked gsm phone, make sure the bands include 850 and 1900.

If you opt for the n90 be careful with it. Currently cingular doesnt cover than particular model with insurance.

You can buy any brand phone as long as it's supported by your network, GMS in Cingular's case, also make sure you have the 850 and 1900 mHz band.
