    If a buy a phone [unlocked] does it have a warranty? If not...am I basically screwed if it doesn't work?

    Any phone that's purchased new will have a one year manufacturer's warranty with it. You'd be hard pressed to get that phone exchanged at a carrier store though. If you had any problems, you would need to ship it back to the manufacturer to get it fixed. You would be out of a phone for 2-3 weeks.

    Yeah, it may be a new phone, but I believe that the unlocking process will void any warranty you might have gotten from the manufacturer. I could be wrong, but if I am right, you will have to pay for any repairs that might be necessary.

    It would be worth looking into. I wouldn't think that unlocking a phone would void the warranty because people unlock phones to go overseas. I would think that the manufacturer would support that. The carrier might not like it (which, if you have an unlocked phone to begin with, there is no original carrier), but I don't think it would. I'm not an expert on GSM though so don't take my word for it. I'd call the manufacturer and ask them.
