Cinguar replaced the SIM for free and said a batch of SIMS used were
defective and they thought mine was one of them.
They said the new SIM would show ATT on screen instead of Cingular. I
really think that they caused my SIM not to work in order for me to get a
replacement that contains ATT info. I guess it could have been defective
by I think they caused it. At any rate it didn't cost anything.

Yeah right. Don't you think we would have heard about it if they did
that to all their 60 million customers? Or do you think they wanted you
specifically to be aware of their recent brand change? And if you were
such a special customer, why would the piss you off by remotely
destroying your SIM card?
And even if they were such egomaniacs who want their new brand to show
up on all customers phones, there are many cheaper ways to archieve
this. They could have modified the list of network names through a class
2 SMS. Or they could have just sent you a new SIM in a letter. Actually,
I think it might be a good idea if you listen to Todd.

Paranoia is treatable, start by getting one of these:
http://zapatopi.net/afdb/
It'll protect you until you can see a therapist.

Did they issue you an AFDB with the new SIM?

LOL.
Son, heh... you can't even do humor effectively. Scamper along and
google AFDB.
Psst: I don't sell them.
And do yourself a favor--don't return to the usenet waters until
you're mature enough to post with a tone that doesn't inspire folks
who enjoy metting out a flame or two to someone to adjust their
attitude a bit.
The community generally enjoys someone willing to be level-headed,
reasonable, patient, doing a bit of research on their own before
posting, isn't entitlement minded about the results of free advice,
and, well, doesn't come off like a jaggoff.
And by the way, you're welcome for the chorus of advice you got from
many (including myself) who instructed you that customer service would
get you fixed up quickly, and that no amount of posting here was going
to solve your SIM problem.
Usenet: the advice is free, but sometimes it can take a toll. Get
over it.
Best Regards,

A simple question was asked, you acted like a piece of ****,
end of story. You are not here to help anyone, you are here for
your ego.

We're playing for points? Darnit! Why aren't I informed about these
things?
More seriously, I don't seem to be alone in my annoyance with you, but
really it's not a big deal. Calm down...it's all just a bit about
cell phones and to share some knowledge and enforce some reasonable
decorum for posters who don't know how to call customer service, post
their phone model number when it's important to their question, or
know how to verify when/whether usenet postings have gone out.

Let the record show you actually asked an ill-formed, unconstrained
question and started about 3 new threads to do it, but who's counting?
On a more compassonate note, your obsession with fecal matter may be
something you'll want to add to the list of things to discuss with
your therapist.
Along with top posting.
You got flamed for asking a moderately lame question with bonus points
for posting it several times, with the cherry of a new anonymous
address each time.
Is this really the first time you've drawn flames? It's all in good
fun. The key is not to take it too personally.

And here we are with poo references again. Tsk.
Now now... go back and read the history, my Registered Copyright,
quick-to-profanity, fecalphiliac friend. You'll see I answered you
very nicely (and as it turns out, accurately) the first time, and lo
second time.
But then your next 10 posts arrived. And they keep arriving. So the
story hasn't ended....why... We've Only Just Begun [cue piano and
clarinet].
