Fine. That would be the honest way to do it. That's precisely what
Sprint ought to have done.

It reminds me of the way Congress raised taxes some years back, while
avoiding being accused of raising tax RATES: They phased out deductions
instead of increasing upper bracket rates.

It's also like what the California legislature just did. They were
unwilling to make the necessary cuts and raise the necessary taxes.
Instead, they BORROWED 11 BILLION DOLLARS, thereby pushing those taxes
into future years, and piling on additional interest expenses.

It's the American way: Treat the public like idiots, and chances are
good that they won't mind or notice it...
