I got my monthly bill for $287. There are about 2200 text messages. However, I did not send 2200 text messages! So I called cingular to remove my charge with no success. I bitterly complained but hit a brick wall.
There is no doubt that I did not send all those messages, 50-100 maybe.
my question is, where do I go from here? These messages are obviously not mine. There are 22 pages of bill!
Can someone please give me advice? thanks.

It came out to be like $20.... Always gotta be sure and give them a call.HTC MDA

I called, didn't get much answer. they said they don't charge for receiving messages, only sent. I just told them to block all outgoing messages. Hope that will work.
I can't wait for my contract to end Aug. 2nd.

Call back and ask to talk to a supervisor, if you did not send those messages you should not have to pay for them, if they tell you that they need do research, then tell them to put that part of the bill on hold so that you do not have to pay that right now and avoid additional late charges on that part of the bill.....if you normally don't send alot of messages also have them look at your previous bills to prove to them that you do not send that many messages on average.....good luck.

Both outgoing and incoming messages as well as Instant Messaging over AOL, Yahoo , etc count as Text Messages, I think.
Is IMing the source of some of these messages. It would not take a long IM conversation to put up 100+ messages in a hurry.
(If you like to IM, get on a plan that offers Unlimited Text Messaging for a low flat fee , like $5 or $10 each month. That way you don't have to worry.)
Another possibility is that someone else has your password and is using it to send messsages. Change it immediately if there is even a remote possibility.

Teleguy is rite, cingular does charge for both incoming and outgoing txt messages which also inclues IMing and the "chat" feature if you have it. I'm sorry to hear that you can't wait for your contract to end. I have been with ATT for about 4 years and when ATT and Cingular merged I migrated over and i haven't had any problems. So good luck with getting that outrageous bill corrected.

a cingular rep told me they don't charge for incoming messages. only outgoing. anyhow, i told them to block all outgoing messages. it seems to be working, and the number of text messages has been the same for the last week. so I guess it's working and I'm going to cancel my account once my contract ends.
