Before you read... read this:
"This is a tool that could have been built with privacy in mind," Microsoft Spokes person 'Schwartz' said.
What does this lead you to think?
Guess what WMP 11 is doing? Creates a list of each digital music, video, and even DVD on it. As soon as you connect to the internet, any tags, comments, and the title (using a client like IE's ALEXA) are sent DIRECTLY to microsoft's DataBase. Of course, this information is bundled with the user, product key, and other data that marks your PC as "your's" or "not your's".
What else?
Microsoft has filed a bill back last year, that would pass a law that enables them to connect to a user's PC and search for their products (and partner's products) that are acctually pirated. They then will alert the District Justice about such illegal activities, including internet history that may be illegal. They can then delete any "potentially pirated" material (including files MADE from the software).
Kinda messed up...

Re: Pirates beware... Big Brother is watching, AGAIN
Exactly! Although I love windows... I don't like their actions... I talked to my uncle last night (works over in Japan for MS). He said that over 200 companies have enrolled to be part of this piracy "sting" (or so to speak, well, that's kinda what it is...). He's not allowed to tell me much else... so I guess we'll have to wait and see

It's the only one I'll use if it's a must other than Fedora (which is HUGE)

Re: Pirates beware... Big Brother is watching, AGAIN
I've moved on from fedora now., I used that line of distro since RH 7.3 all the way to FC4, then i found ubuntu and i'm at home with it really!. Because i always wanted to switch to debian, so ubuntu was just perfect, i use it for all my dekstops and servers now.

3) As for MS deleting files made by the software in question, well, let's just wait and see how long it takes for a company who's software files get deleted to file suit against MS.
