Hi,
I am an American and I am traveling to Europe in the coming month. I will be in Italy for the entire trip and traveling to various places within the country.
I have an unlocked motorola V3 RAZR.
I would like to be able to call the United States as cheaply as possible from a cell phone. I also want to be able to receive calls from the United States and occasionally make domestic calls.
Can someone please suggest the best way to go about this?
Thank you,
Joe

Re: Traveling to Italy with an unlocked RAZR
My humble experiences in Italy is that nothing is cheap. You can get yourself a fairly inexpensive sim card and pay as you go. Vodafone, TIM and a few other services. The best way to call back to the States is with Europa calling cards for 5 Euro each. So far that has been the best way. There might be other services out there that are cheaper so keep an eye out. Hopefully this helps a little bit.

Re: Traveling to Italy with an unlocked RAZR
i have a verizon razr, my parents talked to a local verizon store and the sales associate told my parents that my phone would work over there. however i have heard of people adding international calling to their phone plans for a month or two and their phones working just fine for no more than $20 more a month for the time they are out of the country. the verizon store told my parents that my only option is to buy a temp. phone and set up an int'l plan which would end up being lke $140. i don't want to spend that...has anyone had any experience with int'l plans and verizon?
