Ok i'm looking to get a new phone because i'm currently fed up with the "RAZR". Out of these two which would be the better choice. The Dash or the SDA? The price isn't a concern. I was just hoping that someone who knows about these phones or may have one has any input. Thank you

Re: Question regarding the Dash or the SDA

Ahh... Another smartphone convert... Welcome my friend
I will answer your question with question...
What do you want to do with your phone?
The SDA and DASH are both Smartphones.(neither have touchscreen)
They both have WI-FI (free internet wherever theres on unsecure WIFI signal).
Dash has a full qwerty onboard keyboard which will be nice for texting & Emails. SDA does NOT have a keyboard.
Dash has a larger screen. (good for checking out my TV/Video links at PocketVIP.com)<-- shameless plug)
Because of the keyboard and larger screen Dash is bigger.
Dash comes with stereo bluetooth support. SDA may need software for this.
These are some of the major differences.
    Choose wisely young Jedi.
I own the SDA... But if the choice were mine I'd go with Dash because of above mentioned.

**Dont rule out the MDA... Its still a decent PDA/phone for short money.
And it has a touchscreen.(Once you go touchscreen you never go back)[/B]

Out of curiosity, why exactly are you "fed up" with the Razr? I'm very curious.

And if you are ready to move to a "Smart Phone" why is the Dash (not selling well and reportedly buggy) and the SDA (also not selling well but an ok phone) on your list but not the Blackberry Pearl?

IMHO, the Pearl is hands down the better option between these choices.

The above poster raises an interesting point, how come you are not giving due consideration to the pearl? Outline your needs for us, is a windows based phone what you need or would you consider the os of the blackberry. While I disagree that the dash is buggy isn't selling well, at least not in my location, its not for everyone. Its a tight keypad and a slow operating system. Let us know what your needs are specifically so we can aid your decision better!

Re: Question regarding the Dash or the SDA

I agree with the above posters as well.
I think you can ask yourself the following... "Am I looking for a more fun phone, or a more functional phone"?
Pearl may be the more stable, functional phone.
Dash may be the more fun of the two as far as bells and whistles and 3rd party software availability.

Re: Question regarding the Dash or the SDA

Thanks for the response guys. I hadn't ruled out the pearl or the mda, the dash and the sda just happened to be the first on my list. To answer one question i'm fed up with the razr because it turns off and on at random now. It won't tell me if I have missed calls until hours after the fact. Now some would say bad reception or other abvious things but my girlfriend also has the same issues along with other people I know who have gone through more than two razrs. Now as far as the phones i'm looking for. I'm looking for something fun to play with but one that I can also surf the web with and check my yahoo and "myspace" lol. I want something that you would all find reliable. so now you could say it's between the MDA, SDA, Dash and the Pearl. Thanks for the input.

Personally, I find the MDA to be the "weakest" phone of the four you suggest. The SDA while a particularly strong phone has a VERY small keyboard and makes typing rather difficult. I'm a 5000 a month strong texter and that keyboard would just kill me. If web-browsing is one of your biggest things I'd take the dash, while the pearl has its strengths, browsing isn't one of them. Going through particularly long pages with the trackball is tedious and annoying. Not to mention the pages don't render like they do in IE even if you change the render style in the blackberry browser. I think for you, the dash is the best bet, its the best combination of phone, surfing and reliability you can bank on.

Ok cool thanks for the input. That is probably the one that i'm going to get but I want to talk to a couple more people and look at some reviews.

My V3i Razr does all that and more. Indeed, while I like the Pearl and may even get one sometime in the future, there is VERY LITTLE that I can find that the Pearl does that a properly formatted Razr can't do as well or better.

Surf the web? Download Opera Mini.

    Get email? Download Gmail Mobile.

There are software apps aplenty which make the Razr a very powerful mobile communications device. As noted, there are very few things the MDA, the Dash or the Pearl can do that a Razr can't.

Explain these software apps because i've never heard anything of them before. As far as my knowledge goes on the subject I know the Razr is not able to surf real web pages or at least ones that aren't in beta format. That's is one of the many reasons I don't want it anymore.

You need to get out more. LOL. Just kidding. There is precious little the so-called smart phones will do that a good Razr can't do just as well. The only difference is that the so-called smart phones have the apps loaded on them when you buy them. There are LOTS of downloadable apps that will make your Razr just as powerful as a SDA or a Dash -- you just need to look around and download them. Here are just a few:

Opera Mini (full browser for phones) ... mini.opera.com

Gmail Mobile (mobile Gmail and totally cool interface) ... Google Mobile

Google Maps for Mobile (Maps and Satellite Photos) ... Google Maps

World Mate (time and currency standards) ... MobiMate's WorldMate - Mobile Travel Software-Windows Mobile Pocket PC Travel Software, Palm Travel Software, UIQ Travel Software, BlackBerry Travel Software and more

    Windows Live Search ... wls.live.com

Keep in mind that JUST AS IN A SMARTPHONE, you need to have a data plan from your carrier or else you may not be able to load these programs or enjoy using them.

Alright thanks i'll look into that.

You don't need the data plan to use Wifi. You do need the data plan to access data if you are not on WiFi.
