I have to admit I do love LG products and have a few in my house already, the microwave alone managed to survive my kids so I am thinking about getting one of these for the oldest (as a birthday present). What is the big difference between this and say my Samsung Galaxy? Since they are running a promotion I might be able to snag a good deal on it.

Re: LG Optimus G
Conissa, the reason why some people would advise you not to buy an LG smartphone is because in the past there have been one or two "bad apples" in their smartphone line-up, but most importantly, because LG has been a bit slow when it came down to releasing new software updates on their smartphones.
In regards to your question "the big difference between the Galaxy S2 and the Optimus G", well, there are a lot of differences. First of all, the Galaxy S2 is an older generation. It's one of the best Android smartphones of year 2011, but it doesn't pack the latest technology anymore, whereas the Optimus G is a pretty up-to-date device.
For instance, the Optimus G comes with one of the best/fastest smartphone processors currently on the market (the Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core), which is better than the processor found in the Samsung Galaxy S3, let alone the SGS2. Then there's the display size and resolution. The Optimus G has a larger display and a higher resolution than the Galaxy S2, making pictures and movies look better.
To keep the long story short, the display is nicer on the Optimus G and the device is much more powerful than the Galaxy S2 in every regard. Basically, games will run smoother on the Optimus G, apps will load faster, pictures taken with its camera will be of higher quality etc. The only downside that I can think of right now is the fact that it doesn't have a removable battery. The case is "closed" so to speak, and if you're used to switching batteries on your SGS2 then that's not going to be an option with the Optimus G.
Keep in mind that the Optimus G is not necessarily the absolute best high-end smartphone currently on the market (it's a matter of taste more often tha not), but if you wish to remain faithful to your brand of choice –LG- then yes, the Optimus G is the best the company has to offer at this point.Last edited by DustenRust; 02-07-2013 at 11:38 AM.
