Yes and no. The software loaded onto the phone, including the on screen keyboard, photo viewer, and web browser do not take advantage of multi-touch. However, the screen itself and hardware does support multi-touch. Potentially applications could be written to utilize it.

I have heard it is supported and I would think it will only be a matter of time before apps take advantage of it.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing. Promising though as it means it's enabled in the firmware.

As old as the original Droid may be, its multitouch capabilities are superior to some of the newer models, like my triumph.
