Despite all the so called innovations (cameras, thinner phones, videos and ringtones) one very important function of cell phones still sucks! Majorly!
We still don't have a good way of entering letters and numbers on the phone. No wonder text messaging drags behind projections in the US!!

Motorola, Nokia, Samsung and others, none have come up with any real innovation to address this dire problem. Even putting a simple name in is a big hassle. We are still shackled by multi-tap and T9, neither of which work.

The conservative designers of the big three cell phone manufacturing companies are still after cute designs and adding ancillary gadgets, abandoning the mainstream functionality.

But there are plenty of proven or emerging technologies out there. My favorite is MessagEase from www.exideas.com, which works wonderfully on my PDA, but I want it on my cell phone (They have it implemented on a cell phone as well!) I am sure others have other favorites.

Why can't the complacent cell phone manufacturers listen to the users for a change?!
