Hey guys, I've been looking around and have been hearing conflicting reports about the PTT function on the SLVR. When I first found out about the phone, I did a lot of searching on ebay, phone scoop, howards forums and other places, both to get info and prices for the phone. Everywhere I've looked, they have said that it is indeed PTT capable, and that's what I'm looking for. I am an agent of Cingular, and we just recieved our info packets on the SLVR, along with dummy phones. The customer fliers and the training guide did not mention PTT anywhere, so I called Motorola consumer support. The person that I talked to said that the PTT feature was not listed in his database as being avaliable on the U.S. versions of the phone. He then directed me to my.motorola.com to check out the phone, which listed the phone as being PTT capable once again.
My question is... has anyone that owns a SLVR L7 connected to the Cingular PTT system? I know that every SLVR in the U.S. today would have been imported, but if it is a situation that the Euro models can connect to Cingular PTT and the U.S. versions can't, I will buy a Euro version and have to pay more.

see that's the thing. As i said in my other post, all of the specifications that I have been seeing about the phone on all websites (including motorola's) list it as PTT. But the information packet sent to my store did not list it as being capable, and the dude at motorola's consumer support said his system didn't list the U.S. model as capable either. I was really hoping to track down someone that has physically activated a SLVR on Cingular's PTT system to know that it works, and where they bought the phone from, so I can buy the same thing...

Well, the interesting thing is that in the picture the phone does not appear to have a PTT button. I've heard nothing about this phone being a PTT phone & I am also on Howard Forums.

The cingular version has ITunes installed on it and is the successor to the rockr.
Don't know if the cingular version has ptt though. I have a question can you put itunes on one if you bought it off ebay with no itunes on it?
I plan on getting one of these but i need to know whether to wait for the one from cingular or??? get one from ebay i want to use a ht820 headset with it.

Binx, it's kinda wierd... On our selling guide, the SLVR has a button that looks like a PTT button (under the volume keys on the left hand side) but it is a shortcut to My stuff. It's kind of a BS shortcut for a button IMO so I think that is where the PTT is/may/should go.

I just recieved my SLVR on Friday. (Yes, I bought it on EBay, and yes I am in the US)
The phone DOES have PTT Technology.
The button below the Volume controls is not the PTT button, but a "Smart Button" which the user can change the destination of when you press the button. I currently have mines to go into my music, etc. The PTT button I belive is located on the right side of the phone.
Now, I am running on outdated service. I am still on AT&T GSM because I get a better rate and deals through AT&T Corperate. When you press on that button on the right, it tries to make a connection to some server or address. I get a fail message because I do not have PTT. I believe that if you have PTT subscribed on your plan with this phone, it should bring up PTT. I have read the manual which clearly says this phone has PTT.
I really dont know what the deal is with iTunes, but my phone DID NOT come with iTunes. How do you know the Cingular version will have iTunes on it? Any sources?
From what I understand, this is NOT Motorola's next gen Rokr. They are suppose to have a Rokr2 come out later this year. The thing with the Rokr is that it also uses TransFlash and can only hold 512MB.

Thanks for that Einstei, so it's safe to say that the info i posted from the specs is correct?

Shoot, forgot to put the n after Einstein when I registered...
But yes, the info you posted for the specs is correct. I will see if I can borrow someones Cingular SIM w/ PTT but it may take awhile.
While the phone is great. Very clean looking, ect, it is not worth paying $400+ like I did on EBay (I got a HS850 BT Headset and 512 TransFlash).
My advice for everyone is to wait until it is actually released in the US so prices on these phones can drop AND some people can make cases DESIGNED for the SLVR.
Im using a universal leather case that I really just dont like. There is a huge lack of aftermarket accessories for this phone.

Re: SLVR L7 PTT capable or not?
From what I have found you cannot use the HT820 head set with the SLVR. It is not capable of sending streaming music over bluetooth via A2DP(advanced audio digital profile).
