    I having a problem with my L7. Frequently when anyone calls my number, it goes straight to my voice mail. It is not a case of no signal since I get 4-5 bars.

    I turn off the phone and turn in back on and it works ok. But now always. Like I turn in on in the morning and only when someone calls and leaves a message, I realize that the same problem is occurring. (When I get a voice mail, i get the alert on my phone)

    Problem also occurs when I turn on blue tooth and after I am done, I turn off BT and power off my BT. After that same problem, dont get a ring if someone calls.

    Any ideas and suggestions would be welcome. Anyone with L7 having similar problem, please share your exp.

    Ghost in the machine

    I'm a little oblivious as to what exactly is happening.

    Try the following;

    turn BT off.

    Powercycle your phone (give it a good 10mins).

    • Ensure you have your phone on LOUD, and your volume IS ACTUALLy turned up.
    • Call your cell from your home or wherever.
    • What happens? ==> share

    • Turn BT on., ensure you've connected.
    • Ensure your phone is still on LOUD.
    • Do another test INBOUND call from another phone.
    • What happens? ==> share

    I'm asking this so we have somewhere to start from., is it a matter of your volume being on silent? Is it a matter of defective bar reading full when in fact it is poor? Let me know and I can expand the troubleshooting.

    Is this your first motorola?

    fwiw, I've NEVER had anything as quirkalicious as this happen to my Motos. (I've had a couple )

    Also did you recently try to hack your phone for the new itunes, to increase your song limit. This and what Mr. Tea (no pun intended) spoke of are the only things that could have done this, that or you need to do a master reset and if that doesn't work you may have to return your phone.

    Re: Problem with SLVR L7, does not ring

    1. I did not try any hacks. I am not aware of any update/hacks for the L7
    2. I switched on the phone this morning. It was off at night.
    3. Checked that BT in my phone is powered off.
    4. I called my cell phone from my land line. Went stratight to voice mail. Cell phone did not ring at all.
    5. Powered on the BT in the phone. Called again. Same thing, straight to voice mail. Cell phone did not ring.
    6. Powered off BT and called again. Same thing. No ring, straight to voice mail.
    7. Powered off my cell phone. Restarted after 1 min.
    8. Called the cell phone. Now it worked and I had a ring.
    9. Powered on BT, tried again. Yes there was ring.
    10. Powered off BT, Still works ok.
    11. Power cycled my cell phone. Still worked ok.

    All this time I did not actually use the BT headset. I was just turning the BT on and off in my cell phone. I will try to see what happens when I actually make a call using BT headset and then turn the headset off/disconnect.

    So now everyday, when I power on my phone, i have to make a call to my cell just to check whether it rings or not.

    geez...Up til step 8 I thought you simply had your calls forwarded FULL-TIME to VM...but when it worked...(assuming you didn't change the call forwarding status)...it lost me.

    Dude., you're phone or your line is buggy. Call your provider and request a reset of all "whatevers"?? Does this happen with another phone?

    Can you try the same steps with another phone?

    How long have you had it?

    Re: Problem with SLVR L7, does not ring

    I do not have call forwarding set up.
    I can put the sim card into my old razr and see. Will try that and post what happens. I am pretty sure the older phone will work fine.
    I have had this phone for one month.

    Re: Problem with SLVR L7, does not ring

    good to know motofan.

    If the razr works fine (I'm assuming it will?), it'll most likely point to a defective L7. Unless the L7 has some setting that's resulting in the following outcome.

    Have you done a hard master reset...or is it maser clear? I forget. The one that restores ALL, and deletes everything also..do that on the L7 and see what the result it.

    Master reset: will it clear all my contacts, ringtones, pictures?

    Re: Problem with SLVR L7, does not ring

    reset, sets all settings to default.

    clear, deletes everything you've copied.saved.etc.(not sure if clear ALSO does a reset or not).

    Re: Problem with SLVR L7, does not ring

    Master clear will delete all ringtones etc. but not a master reset. It like Mr. Tea said will just restore all your factory defaults, but again as he said it sounds as though your phone is just buggy, so one way or another you'll lose all those ringtones unless you send the to your sd card
