Hi! I have an i730 (with direct protect insurance) but its just getting to big and bulky for me, so i was wondering if it was at all possible to report the 730 as "lost" and then upgrade to the i830. Does anyone know how much that would be? THNX
p.s. will i have to extend my contract?

New Insurance rules
There used to be a $35 fee if that happened, but so many people did it that is was raised to $100, with a 2 year contract extension. Thats to get the same phone, if you go in and pay the upgrade price for the new phone and extend your contract, they don't care about your old phone, just keep it as a spare.

correction
fyi, the deductable has been reduced back to 35$ and the insurance does not involve a contract extention.

Dealers vary
I can only speak from my personal experience. When I go to my Nextel Kiosk at the Mall I get phones for $50 cheaper than everyone else because I am on a corporate account with UPS. And any phone that has had a color screen that I have had probleems with has cost me $100 to replace. I'm sure it is at their discretion what to charge.
