Hello all. I had been with Verizon for about 8 years. I have been always impressed with their coverage, service and customer service. However, I carry 4 plhones and one of my member of my plan caused us to go over to a tune of $1300 total. Some of it was our bill which was running about a month behind (that would account for about 500) and the other was overages. It made me literally ill. Verizon would only keep my phone on for $800 and pay the rest in installments. I simply can't afford so had to let it go. I didn't want to lose my phone number which I have had for 18 years. So I ported my numbers to Page Plus. We are able to use our Verizon phones and so far all is well. However, I would like to eventually go back to Verizon but since I ported my number, I believe it means I cancelled my contract and they will now charge me the cancellation fee.
Has anyone else been in this situation? I am going to pay Verizon something every month until paid and then hopefully get back if they can offer me a better plan.
Please let me know if you are or have been in similar situation. It would be good to hear how others feel about this....

Re: High bill caused me to leave Verizon Plan
I've never had an issue with Verizon Wireless when it comes to billing and/or overages.
I've always made payments on time and have basically the most I can get from them. I pay about $115 a month for one for phone unlimited text, internet, data, insurance, ringback tones, and roadside assistance...but I also get a discount from my employer.
They only charge you what they're supposed to, so you cannot blame them for the overages.
Also, keep in mind Verizon is going to bill you an Early Termination Fee plus all outstanding balance in ONE bill. They'll give you 60 days to pay it off completely and charge you $5 per month it hasn't been fully paid. After the 60th day, they hand off your bill to a credit agency. This is standard in the wireless industry.

Re: High bill caused me to leave Verizon Plan
Thank you for the facts. I hope that they give me more than 60 days before sending to collection agency. Thank you again for the insight on how their internal billing/handloff works. It will help me make decisions.

Re: High bill caused me to leave Verizon Plan
Why go back? There overpriced! Yes you cancel when you port out unless you call to resume service with a new phone number. Page Plus uses Verizons network, So why look back. BTW If you've had them for 8 years how are you under contract? upgrades????? bad move. besides if you DO go back WITH a phone you don't have to go under contract. You'd be amazed the difference in customer treatment when you not obligated to them!

Re: High bill caused me to leave Verizon Plan
Thank you! Things have changed. Page Plus removed one of my daughters from the unlimited talk and text plan due to abuse of her unlimited minutes. They would not tell me how many she used or what the max is for the "unlimited" plan. I filed complaints at the BBB, Ohio AG, FCC. There is have been articles written and much attention given to this new practice of PagePlus. It appears they just started this in March. Google it or look at Howard Forums. I have posted there and there are other links. They hung up on me and would not let me speak with a supervisor.
Verizon is allowing me to pay the bill off in 6 months. I intend to do so and go back, possibly with no contract, if possible. I will negotiate better this time. I can't stay with Page Plus cause I don't know when they will revoke the rest of my phones. I want to keep my phone numbers and phones. If I go anywhere else, including pay-as-you go, I will need to buy new phones. Page plus would be great if they didn't randomnly remove people from their unlimited plans.
I will keep posting. Thank you!

Re: High bill caused me to leave Verizon Plan
I would like to tell you that being dropped because of excess use of the unlimited minutes, text, etc is rare...but it isn't. Even larger carriers can do that. I haven't heard of Verizon specifically doing it, but they hold the right. AT&T is known for that in California. They dropped my girlfriend for using 3000 text messages in 2 weeks on an "unlimited plan". They then continued to charge her an early termination fee of $175 (at that time, they were not regulated to prorate things like this).
Page Plus is a reseller. They use Verizon Wireless equipment, towers, and even their phone numbers to provide you access to their "network" which is even owned by Verizon Wireless and a few other carriers. They do whatever is most cost effective for them, not you. The more features you use, the more they pay Verizon or whomever else to use. After a while, paying the unlimited per month price to them is under what they actually pay Verizon for you using those features.
