As Onslow in "Keeping Up Appearances" would say, "Oh, nice..!"

No they're not. Ovens operate at 2.4 GHz. Phones use 900 or 1800 MHz.

Stay out of the sun then.

    It's a hap-hap-happy day :-)

.... and its even more pronounced than that. Microwave ovens trap the
radiation inside a sealed container which increases the field
strength significantly. This is the same effect as a 1KW electric
fire in the corner of the room (welcome on a cold day) and a 1KW
element in your oven (useful if you need to roast something).

So only an octave down. And the spooks were using frequencies near the
GSM 1800 ones for a long time before they were made available for
    mobile phones.

And this old use was at much higher power levels.

Not suggesting that what you say is wrong, but it needs explaining to
    the tinfoil hats brigade.

Regional TV transmitters are normally working at 1,000,000 to
    2,000,000 watts all the time.

Mobile phone base stations generally run at about 50 watts.

Mobile phones can run at 0.25 or 0.5 watts maximum, but more normally
at 0.025 to 0.05 watts - otherwise their tiny batteries run down too
    fast.

Hardly - got a 2:1 in telecommunication engineering, and use my phone in
excess of 2000 minutes a month, and have done so since 1992. I'm still here!

Yes how inconsiderate that your landline service probably replies on a
microwave link? Your public service such as BBC TV and Radio? And the
Soviets? Where are they now? :-)

    > Sure, sit on your little f-ing pedestal and call me a wanker.

    You're a wanker.

If you're gonna argue, then get it right - microwaves ARE radio waves! They
are called microwaves as the wavelength is really small. Hence the word
    "Micro".

    How misguided you really are!

You sound like someone who sits at home, with no radio, TV or telephone, who
reads the Financial Times in your gown and slippers, smoking a pipe who
obviously has nothing better to do than to not only spout inaccuaracies, but
spout them in such a manner that seems to deliberately antagonise other NG
    readers...

So, what exactly are you doing on the internet, you luddite?

*Sighs* Not wasting my time on this self pretencious, ill-informed little
    prick anymore....

yeah - this sunlight stuff is really bad for life on this earth!
