ok, this question is most likely a very dumb question and already been answered, but what the hell.
if i were to buy a tmobile samsung t809 that is unlocked and can be used with cingular, will just the calling feature be usable, or can i text, use internet, and other crap like that?
just wondering before i drop a couple c-notes on this biotch. thanks for the help

Re: dumb question about using an unlocked phone
Actually it's a very good question, you don't ever want to buy a phone that's not compatable with your carrier.
The Samsung t809 will work with Cingular, it's a quadband phone and it has the two bands needed for it to work for you ( 850 & 1900 mHz band) however you will need to configure your phone to be able to send pictures & text messages.

Re: dumb question about using an unlocked phone
thanks for the quick reply, but by configure, you mean?
do i have to do anything such as going into a cingular store and having them do anything, and will it change my plan or add crap like 2 years. haha, i dont really think it will, just making sure.

Re: dumb question about using an unlocked phone
by configuring your phone you change the settings so that your text/picture messaging works properly, nothing to do with your calling plan.
you can use this configurator. just choose the model that's closest to the one you're gonna use.

Re: dumb question about using an unlocked phone
just out of curiosity, is there any advantage of the cingular D807 vs the Tmobile T809, or vice versa? i like the looks of the T809 better, but if the D807 has better functionality, then maybe i should look at that. they look like basically the same phone.

Re: dumb question about using an unlocked phone
alright, one last question before i make my move. the person selling said "Open the box to unlock the phone only." by this, does he mean it unlocks this phone, and no other phones, or does he mean it unlocks only the phone function and i cant use any other functions that require service? thanks

Re: dumb question about using an unlocked phone
Arn't the text message and voicemail setting stored on the sim card? With fido all I would have to set up is the picture msg. and GPRS.
